Screenwriting for Distribution & Marketing (In Person / Online) is a practical, industry-focused workshop that helps writers and filmmakers understand how distribution and marketing considerations should shape a screenplay from the very beginning. Participants break down what film distribution actually is, when and how to approach distributors, what genres and elements they look for, and the common red flags that can immediately turn them off. The session also covers setting realistic expectations, evaluating and negotiating contracts, and knowing what to watch for once distribution is secured.
On the marketing side, the workshop explores how writers can intentionally build marketable moments into their scripts, support a distributor’s marketing strategy, set achievable goals for audience reach, and leverage personal resources such as editors, designers, and social media experts. Attendees leave with a clear understanding of marketing budget planning, the fundamentals of effective social media campaigns, and actionable strategies to increase a film’s visibility and commercial potential.
